Ingredients of Seviyan upma
  1. You need 1 cup of vermicelli/seviyan.
  2. You need 3 tbsp of oil.
  3. Prepare of as per taste salt.
  4. You need as needed of water.
  5. You need 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder.
  6. You need 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds.
  7. You need 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
  8. You need 1/2 inch of ginger finely chopped.
  9. It’s 1/2 tsp of split chickpea.
  10. It’s 1/2 tsp of split black lentil.
  11. It’s 3 of green chillies chopped length waise.
  12. Prepare leaves of few curry.
  13. Prepare 1/2 cup of grated coconut.
  14. You need 1 tbsp of chopped coriander leaves.
  15. Prepare 1 of onion chopped.
  16. You need 2 tsp of lemon juice.
  17. Prepare 2 tbsp of pea nuts.
Seviyan upma step by step
  1. Take a wok heat up on medium flame add 3tbsp oil, when oil is hot add in mustard seeds, cumin seeds let it splutter, add chopped onions, chopped green chillies, curry leaves,chopped ginger, chickpea lentil, black lentil fry for 2 minutes add pea nuts, saute it until pea nuts fried, add turmeric powder and salt mix well and keep aside, now in a wide sauce pan take enough water add little salt bring it to boil.

  2. Add in seviyan cook for 5 minutes, do not over cook,only 75% it should be cooked, (else seviyan gets sticky) drain the water, and add in to the wok.

  3. On a low heat mix it well…cover the lid for two minutes, now add fresh coconut,lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves,mix gently and serve hot..
