These are one of our mom's favorite cookies and she got the recipe from our Grandma Char. I took my grandma's snickerdoodle recipe and tweaked it slightly to make the best snickerdoodle cookies ever.
Grandma's Snickerdoodle Recipe step by step
Beat shortening and sugar together.
After the sugar and shortening are well mixed, add eggs and beat in until mixed.
In a separate bowl, sift flour, cream of tartar, and baking soda. Mix well.
Add 1/4 of a cup at a time to the sugar mixture and mix well until all of the flour mixture is mixed in and forms a think dough.
In a small bowl add sugar and cinnamon.
Form dough in round dough balls and roll in sugar coating mixture.
Bake at 400°F for 8-12 minutes.
Let cool for 5 minutes and enjoy.
