Made popular by Kamehameha Schools, these blonde brownies are an awesome treat all year round. You can add all kinds of things to this. This gives the blondies their distinctive molasses flavor. Since brown sugar is the critical flavor here, I suggest using dark brown sugar.

  1. Preheat over to 350? and grease 8x8 a square baking pan and line with a parchment.

  2. Melt butter now and let it sit so it cools to room temp.

  3. In a bowl whisk together the flour, salt and baking soda.

  4. Using a stand mixer or electric hand mixer beat the egg with the brown sugar until frothy.

  5. Add in the vanilla and the melted butter and beat that.

  6. Mix in the flour next until incorporated.

  7. Fold in the pecans and chocolate.

  8. Pour batter into pan and smooth the top evenly and bake for about 15-20 mins or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs (NOT CLEAN) want it I be nice and moist and chewy! Let it cool completely before cutting.
