Ingredients of Basic Upma
- Prepare 1 tbsp of chopped ginger.
- It’s 1 cup of rava.
- It’s 1/2 of medium sized onion.
- You need 1 of green chilli chopped.
- You need 1 tbsp of ghee.
- It’s 3 tbsp of oil.
- Prepare 3/4 tsp of mustard seeds.
- You need 1 tsp of urad daal.
- Prepare 1 tsp of chana daal.
- Prepare 10-12 of curry leaves.
- Prepare 5 of cashew nuts.
- Prepare 5 of peanuts.
- You need 3 1/2 of cup water.
- You need 1/2 tsp of sugar.
- It’s to taste of salt.
Basic Upma step by step
Turn on the flame. Add ghee & then rava. Roast it in low flame. Keep stirring it for 5-6min. Don't let it turn brown. Don't cook it for more than 5-6min..
Keep the roasted rava in a plate aside. Then heat oil in the same wok..
Add mustard seeds,urad & chana daal..
When the daal turns a little brown in colour, add ginger & green chilli. Saute it for 5sec..
Add curry leaves & onion. Saute it for 10sec..
Add cashew nuts & peanuts..
Then add water. Let it boil till you get the aroma of nuts,chillies & ginger..
Slowly, add the rava and keep stirring it while adding it to the wok. Or else, it will get lumps & the whole recipe is spoiled. So, keep stirring the rava while adding it slowly to the water mixture..
In low flame, let it cook. Cover it with a lid. It's ready within a min..
Serve it hot with pickle or chutney..
