- It’s of about 25 to 30 fresh assorted apples.
- It’s 1 cup of apple cider.
- It’s 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt.
- You need 1 tablespoon of butter.
Fresh Applesauce step by step
Wash apples well. For a nice light pink coor for your applesauce be sure to have some red apples.
Cut apples in quarters, add to large stockpot with apple cider, salt and butter.
Cover pot and simmer, stirring occasionally to be sure to prevent sticking and to rotate softer apples to the top. This can take up to 2 hours depending on your apples crispness.
Cook until apples are very soft.
Press apples through a food mill discarding all peels and seeds.
Then add applesauce to a blender and blend until smooth.
Refrigerate or freeze. This applesauce freezes great.
