Tomato Rasam. Tomato Rasam is a tangy and tasty South Indian dish made with tomatoes, spices and herbs. This popular soupy dish is made in various ways in Regional Indian Cuisine and is known as tomato charu in Andhra Pradesh, tomato saaru in Karnataka and thakkali rasam in Tamil Nadu. Ingredients of Tomato Rasam
- You need 1/2 tsp of Toor Dal.
- You need 1 tsp of musturd seeds.
- You need 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
- You need 1/2 tsp of corriander seeds.
- Prepare 1/4 tsp of methi seeds.
- It’s 1/4 tsp of hing.
- It’s 14-15 of curry leaves.
- It’s 4 of red dry whole chillies.
- You need 1/2 tsp of black pepper powder.
- Prepare 4 of garlic cloves.
- You need 2 tbs of oil.
- It’s 3 of chopped tomatoes.
- Prepare 1 cup of chopped corriander leaves with stems.
- Prepare 1/2 cup of Tamarind water.
- Prepare 1 of & 1/2 cup water.
- It’s 1/2 tsp of haldi powder.
- It’s of Salt to taste.

Tomato Rasam instructions
Heat up a pan on low heat and dry roast all the spices untill nice aroma comes.(Toor dal, musturd seeds,cumin seeds,methi dana, corriander seeds,hing,curry leaves,red chillies,garlic & black pepper powder).
After cool down..Put them in a blender jar and make a course powder out of it..
Heat up a pan with 2 tbs of oil.Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, few curry leaves, red chilli, 3 finely chopped garlic and Saute them for 30 sec..
Now add chopped Tomatoes as well as salt and haldi powder.Mash them with spatula and cook untill get soft..
Now add 1/2 cup Tamarind water. Cover it and cook for 2 mins. Add prepared dry roast masala and mix well..
Now add 1 & 1/2 cup of water..let the water comes to a boil. Then add chopped corriander leaves with stems..
Mix and cook for 1 min. Then switch off the flame and serve hot with steam rice..
