Kastengel cookies. Kastengel or Kaasstengels is one of my favorite holiday treats in Indonesia. These cheese cookies are most commonly found during festive celebrations such as Christmas, Chinese New Year or Eid Al Fitr. Kastengel is Dutch Indonesian cheese sticks or cookies.

Ingredients of Kastengel cookies
- Prepare 150 gr of butter.
- It’s 1 butir of kuning telur.
- Prepare 1/2 sdt of garam.
- You need 1/2 sdt of baking powder.
- Prepare 250 gr of tepung terigu protein rendah.
- You need 1 sdm of susu bubuk.
- You need 50 gr of keju parut.
- You need of Kuning telur secukupnya untuk olesan.
- You need of Keju parut secukupnya sebagai taburan.
- It’s secukupnya of Essens vanili.
It means like in German "Käsestangen". I guess they were created by the Dutch during colonialism in Indonesia, that's why it has a Dutch name. As mentioned on previous post of Putri Salju Cookies, kastengel is also another very popular cookie among many delicacies served during those festive seasons in Indonesia (or by Indonesians live overseas even).
