Ingredients of Vermicelli upma
  1. You need 2 tbsp of oil.
  2. It’s 1/2 tsp of dry mustard.
  3. Prepare 1 tbsp of chana daal.
  4. Prepare 1 tbsp of urad daal.
  5. Prepare 1 pinch of asafoetida.
  6. It’s 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.
  7. It’s 1 of chopped onion.
  8. You need 3 of chopped green chilly.
  9. It’s 1 tsp of grated ginger.
  10. It’s 1/2 cup of chopped tomatoes.
  11. Prepare 2 1/2 cup of water.
  12. It’s 1 tbsp of chopped coriander leaves.
  13. You need 1 of salt to taste.
  14. It’s 1 1/2 cup of vermicelli.
  15. It’s 1 tbsp of cashew.
Vermicelli upma instructions
  1. Heat 1 tsp of the Oil in a pan on medium heat..

  2. Once the Oil is hot, roast the Vermicelli till it turns light golden, stir continuously..

  3. Once done, remove to another pan to stop the cooking process. Keep aside..

  4. In the same pan, add the remaining Oil and heat on medium heat..

  5. Once hot, add in Mustard Seeds and allow them to pop..

  6. Add in Channa Daal and Peanuts and cook for 30 seconds.

  7. Add in the Urad Daal and the Broken Cashew and cook until they turn golden brown.

  8. Add in the Turmeric Powder and Mix well..

  9. Add in the Onions, Carrots & Peas, green Chillies and Ginger and Cook till the Onions turn translucent..

  10. Add in Salt and Water, cover the pan and allow the Water to come to a boil..

  11. Once it is boiling, open cover and add in the roasted vermicelli.

  12. Give it a really good mix, lower heat, cover and cook for 6 minutes..

  13. Stir inbetween once..

  14. After 10 minutes, turn the flame off and allow it to sit covered for another 5 minutes..

  15. Open, fluff gently, garnish with Coriander leaves and serve hot..
