  1. You need 1 cup of rice.
  2. Prepare 1 cup of water.
  3. Prepare 1/2 cup of coconut milk.
  4. You need 50 gr of raw peanuts.
  5. You need 2 of boiled egg/omelet.
  6. It’s 2 of tomatoes.
  7. You need 1 of cucumber.
  8. Prepare 1 tsp of salt.
  9. You need 1 tsp of sambal / chili tomato sauce.

Because my kids asked why isn't it Nasi Kelapa, which of course, stumped me, and I. Nasi uduk is an Indonesian Betawi style steamed rice cooked in coconut milk dish, originally from Jakarta, that can be widely found across the country. Nasi uduk literally means "mixed rice" in Betawi dialect, related with Indonesian term aduk ("mix"). Add the dessicated coconut and mix well before serving.

  2. Cook the rice. Wash a cup of rice (long grain / jasmine rice). In a pot, place the rice. Add the half cup coconut milk, 1 cup water. it depends on the rice, one cup rice normally needs 2 cup water. Please adjust it accordingly. Add 1/2 tbsp salt, and pandan leaves. Bring the rice to boil, and simmer it for 10 minutes. Then, switch off the heat, cover the pot and set the aside. Let it steam by itself for another 10 minutes..

  3. While that, you may pan fry the raw peanuts until brown 4-5 minutes, transfer to the plate with paper napkin to absorb the excess oil..

  4. If you love dried anchovies, you may pan fry some. Dried anchovies are good to accompany the dish. Fried chicken is good as well as side dishes..

  5. For the sambal, please refer to my sambal/tomato chili sauce recipe. Prepare some sliced tomato and cucumber. Slice the boiled eggs..

  6. The rice should be ready. Please enjoy your nasi lemak..
